Coach Hugo Broos said the 2-0 was a logical result. "Especially in the first half we didn't play well. And if you make mistakes like these, you can't win."

"Valencia was technically the better team. And we made it easy for Valencia sometimes. We have to admit it: Valencia deserved the victory. And we made several mistakes."
"What do we have to do now? We have to realise the playing level in the CL is very high. We can't afford to make mistakes."

Daniel Zitka: "We played well in the second half, but we made some mistakes in the first half. I hope we can win some points. But it's possible, last season we also lost our first match."

Pär Zetterberg: "I'm disappointed. I was hoping for a better result, and a better performance. But it didn't work out. We caught two stupid goals. We have to be honest: Valencia are much better than us. Especially today. And they aren't even in good shape yet. We have to work harder now."

Vincent Kompany played a good match against Valencia.
"They are better than us, but we also played well", he said. "It's disappointing when some players make mistakes, and that caused the defeated. But I won't say names."
"It's no problem we lose. It would have been a stunt if we had won a point here. It's ashame we made those mistakes. But I have a feeling we gave everything this match", he said.
