GAMES A weak Anderlecht lost two valuable points at home against Waasland-Beveren. The Brussels team did come back twice, but they created absolutely too little to claim a victory.


Anderlecht brought very little yesterday: the pace was too low and there were hardly any opportunities. The reigning champion missed Hanni due to a suspension and Kara, Najar, Sowah, Boeckx and Onyekuru due to injuries. But those who had hoped that their substitutes would want to prove themselves, were disappointed. The visitors quickly took the lead when Morioka sent Ampomah deep. The striker finished cold-blooded. Anderlecht had to respond, but that was so hard. The equalizer then actually fell from the sky: Roef failed to tip a good free kick from Trebel. The leather fell at the feet of Teodorczyk who finally scored: 1-1 after 41 minutes.

Who thought that Anderlecht would take over the game in the second half, was once again wrong. The visitors dominated and the home team had to wait for counter attacks. Thelin was just stopped by Spajic and not long after, Morioka found a good Sels on his way. After 81 minutes, the Waaslanders then took the lead, even though it needed a penalty. Deschacht lost the ball and tackled Boljevic. Thelin worked the leather cool against the nets.

The visitors could not enjoy the lead for a long time, because Anderlecht finally seemed to be awake at last. One of the few successful attacks immediately resulted in a goal: a good pass from the right (Appiah) was run by Saief in goal: 2-2 after 82 minutes.

Anderlecht pushed, but was also lucky that Sels saved the day after Sambi Lokonga lost the ball. The goalkeeper stopped Thelin and held a point. And yet Anderlecht could have won: Teodorczyk still hit the post with a deviated shot and in the final minute Saief missed a (badly taken) penalty after an error on Trebel in the sixteen.
