Man-in-form Dimata does it again

GAMES After two matches without a win, Anderlecht again knows what winning is. On the field of Waasland-Beveren it achieved a relatively smooth 1-2 victory. With an enforced penalty, a goal and an assist, Landry Dimata was the great driving force. Only downside: a counter goal in the extra time again ensured that the zero was not held.


Hein Vanhaezebrouck put Milic and Trebel in the starting eleven and immediately took control of the game. Dimata narrowly missed the first chance. It was only postponement. After ten minutes, Verstraete made a penalty fault on the striker. The young Belgian put himself behind the ball and gave Anderlecht the lead.

After the lead, Anderlecht did not really push for the score. Waasland-Beveren did not get a decent attack either.

After halft time Vellios took care of the first chance, but it was not dangerous. On the other side, Debaty saved attempts from Trebel and Gerkens. The second half was mainly a card festival. Twenty minutes before time Milic got his second yellow and so he had  to go to the dressing room. Vanhaezebrouck then brought in Appiah.

Trebel decided the match seven minutes before the end. Dimata with the nice pass and the captain kicked in coolly. Anderlecht seemed on their way to keep the zero for the first time for a long time, but it was not allowed. Deep in extra time, substitute Sanneh scored in his own goal.

Anderlecht won, however, and sneaked two points closer to Racing Genk and Club Brugge. AA Gent will be visiting next week.
