GAMES Anderlecht were able to close 2018 with a positive performance. It defeated Waasland-Beveren at home with 3-0. And what's more: purple-white also played really well. It kept the zero and the score could have been much higher.
Belhocine had changed his team after the defeat in Mouscron. Vranjes didn't play, Milic and Appiah got a place in the starting eleven and Najar was right winger at the expense of Saelemaekers. The interventions paid off.
Anderlecht wanted like revenge and was dangerous immediately. Amuzu missed the first opportunity, but Dimata didn't. After just ten minutes, the Anderlecht supporters cheered. After more than a quarter of an hour, Anderlecht had 72 percent possession. This also led to opportunities. Especially Amuzu was dangerous, but scoring before half time did not happen.
Then after the break. The first big chance was for Morioka, but he just missed a cross from Amuzu. That should be better, thought Bornauw, and he nodded a corner kick from Kums past Debaty. His first goal for Anderlecht. And an important one. After the 2-0, Najar and Morioka also had chances, but they did not succeed. Even a busy Amuzu was not awarded a goal. First Debaty and then the post kept him from the 3-0. Didillon, on the other side, contributed his bit by keeping Badibanga from a goal.
In the final phase, Anderlecht got chances as well. First Dimata missed the 3-0 and later Didillon held Cobbaut from an own goal. Dimata put the icing on the cake in the added time. On a cross by Gerkens he made it 3-0.
With this victory, Anderlecht will take the fifth place in the stand over from STVV. The Purple & White now has 34 points, 14 fewer than leader Genk and 7 fewer than Club Brugge.
