Martinez: "I expect a lot from Dimata in the near future"

INTERVIEWS Roberto Martinez is wild from Landry Dimata. He tells that in Het Laatste Nieuws. "Dimata has a huge personality on the field", says Martinez. But why didn't he call the Anderlecht striker yet? That too has a reason.


"Dimata is a different type of striker than Lukaku, Benteke, Batshuayi and Origi," says Martinez. According to the national coach he was already impressed by Dimata when he played for Ostend. He does not mind that he hardly played at Wolfsburg. "This allowed him to grow as a person."

"Dimata plays ninety minutes with the will to make the difference", the national coach praises the Anderlecht striker. "He exudes a huge personality on the field and I expect a lot from him in the future."

Still Martinez Dimata did not reach the A-core yet, in contrast to, for example, Vanaken and Trossard. "I think I can only call a U21 player if his story ends there, a player does not want me to call him and he has to go back to the U21. After the European Championships next summer, he has done entire trajectory at the U21. "
