GAMES Anderlecht an AA Gent both wiped out the zero in Play-Off 1. They achieved their first point with a 0-0 draw. In a boring game, neither of them claimed anything more.
Interim coach Belhocine had a place in the starting eleven for Milic, Lawrence and Saelemaekers. The latter got the first good chance after fifteen minutes, but fell short. No lack of ball possession. Halfway through the first period, Anderlecht had the ball 70 percent of the time, but this did not pose much danger. The greatest chance beefore the break was even for the visitors. Fortunately, Chakvetadze lingered too long and his shot went wide. 0-0 at half time was logical.
Ten minutes after the break the first attempt was made between the posts. Again from Ghent side. Bronn faintly headed a corner in Didillon's arms. Just past the hour, Verschaeren found the cross from Bolasie, but he deviated the ball against the crossbar. However, the game level and the entertainment value immediately went down again. The input of Santini did not change that either.
Five minutes before time, Anderlecht seemed to be putting the lid on. A shot from Bezus ran through the post and the back of Didillon towards the goal line. The Anderlecht goalie reacted well and prevented the 0-1. A little later Ghent was close again, but Yaremchuk and David missed. From Anderlecht side Verschaeren tried, but Kaminski saved his shot.
