Anderlecht will stop regional youth teams

YOUTH As one of the few first-division teams, Anderlecht also had regional next to national youth teams. That is now coming to an end. All regional youth teams  above the U12 will be canceled. They don't bring enough talent, that's how it is.


The provincial Anderlecht youth trains and plays on the Heysel. Around a hundred players from the age of 12 must now look for another club. The club believes that too few of these young players break through. Other clubs do not come to take them away because the training allowance is too high for that age. Only the regional youth teams for players from 6 to 12 years old remain. Occasionally, another talent appears there.

The regional youth teams also had a social aspect. "We work together with local Brussels teams to maintain our social character," says manager Michael Verschueren
