Anderlecht give away victory in the final minutes

GAMES After two wins, Anderlecht have now played a draw for the second time in a row. After two goals of Kemar Roofe, the Purple & White seemed on the way to victory. Anderlecht gave it away in the final minutes. Play-Off 1 continues to go away.


AA Gent had not won an away game yet and wanted to fly into the Lotto Park immediately. It put Anderlecht under great pressure, but the first chance was for the home team. Kaminski saved a shot from Sambi Lokonga. The second attempt also came from the home team, but Kaminski did not let Kayembe's shot pass either.

Anderlecht's third effort was a goal: Saelemaekers started the attack. He passed deep to Cobbaut. Verschaeren found his tight pass at the second post and the young Red Devil kicked his second of the season against the ropes. Anderlecht could not enjoy it for long. Depoitre scored a bit later. The referee raised his flag, but the VAR corrected: no offside and 1-1.

It was almost 1-2, but Yaremchuk hit on Van Crombrugge. Saelemaekers tried twice at the break, but Kaminski did not let anything pass. 1-1 after a fascinating first half.

Anderlecht started the second half with more fire. Saelemaekers was the man who set the lines. When the storm was over, Dejaegere knocked Sambi Lokonga down. Penalty and Roofe did not fail: 2-1. Barely two minutes later, the ball landed at Roofe again. The Englishman scored his second of the evening from the edge of the penalty area with a curl in goal.

Anderlecht seemed to have won the game. Vercauteren brought Zulj in for a pale Vlap for a bit more certainty. Ten minutes before time it was a shock when Bezus turned up only for Van Crombrugge. The Anderlecht goalie had an excellent save. A minute later Cobbaut got the ball against the elbow in his own sixteen. After carrying out a VAR consultation, the ball was put on the spot. Van Crombrugge saved the eleven-meter from Yaremchuk, but the Ukrainian was the first to work the rebound in goal.

The five minutes extra time were a nervous affair. Ghent went in search of the equalizer and was rewarded. Defender Plastun headed the 3-3 past Van Crombrugge in the added time.
