Anderlecht to quarter-final Belgian Cup

GAMES Mission completed. Anderlecht have qualified for the quarter finals of the Belgian Cup at the expense of Mouscron. The Purple & White dominated large parts of the game, but Anderlecht made it harder than necessary due to defensive bumbling.


The cup game had a quiet start. Until after ten minutes a shot from Perica hit Kompany. The leather came back in Perica's feet and in the resumption he kicked hard past a hopeless Van Crombrugge: 1-0. A few minutes later the Purple & White escaped when Referee Visser did not gave a penalty when Sandler and Kayembe knocked Perica down.

Anderlecht responded in a good way. First Saelemaekers and Roofe tried unsuccessfully. A few minutes later it was a goal. The Englishman deviated a shot from Sambi Lokonga from close in goal: 1-1. After the equalizer, Anderlecht took over the command. Doku in particular grew in the game. Two sharp passes after his dribble reached nobody. Shortly before the break, he did it himself. His control of Roofe's cross was not good, but with a quick move he got rid of his defender and kicked the 1-2 into the goal.

The second half started without the fire of the first. After ten minutes, Luckassen stormed towards Vasic and kicked the 1-3 hard under the goalkeeper. Anderlecht seemed to have won the game. In the period that followed it simply controlled the game. Until fifteen minutes before time Cobbaut just gave the ball to Omoigui in his own sixteen and he accepted the gift: 2-3.

Mouscron regained hope. Les Hurlus took over the command. Two minutes before time, Anderlecht escaped. Fortunately, after Sandler made a mistake, Perica missed the equalizer. In the final second of the extra time, Anderlecht received another penalty after a foul on Roofe. The Englishman missed his second eleven meter in five days.
