INTERVIEWS These days it is hip to do 'Anderlecht-bashing'. It is a word that can justifiably become a word of the year 2019. Journalists without backbone are a strong participant in this popular trend. A dangerous game, burning bridges that you will have to cross in the not too distant future. With negativism you score more points than with positive things. Among all those populist journalists, there are still some who do positive reporting.

There is Stef Wijnants, sports analyst for Het Belang van Limburg, who asks for more respect for the Anderlecht youngsters. "I am surprised how much and how hard the entire football world is bashing on Anderlecht. Look at the match at Standard. At Purple & White there were eight boys on the pitch of 20 years or younger. Those youngsters deserve more respect. Everybody goes along in the story that things are going outrageously bad at Anderlecht, but the harsh reality is that there are hardly any boys with experience between the lines, I don't know if the team will get into Play-Off 1. But if there are a few boys who can break through, a solid foundation is laid for the coming years. "

Wijnants also talks about the dramatic state of the Liège field. "Actually, the match should not have been played on such a field. We are all demanding that the Belgian competition should make the connection with the European subtop. Well, let's start with good fields. The whole of Europe has seen the images of that terrible turf on which Standard played Arsenal on Thursday evening ", Wijnants concludes.
