GAMES A weak Anderlecht won 1-2 at the last minute on the field of Cercle Brugge. Only deep in the second half could Purple White reach the same level. The substitute Vlap still gave Anderlecht the unexpected victory in the added time. Anderlecht will remain in the running for play-off 1, but this performance will be the last wake-up call that Purple White can afford.

Before the kick-off, a minute's silence followed for the late Robbie Rensenbrink and in the 16th minute loud applause was heard for the unfortunate Cercle goalkeeper Van Damme. In the meantime, the game had started messy and there was a lot of ball loss on both sides. But Cercle did show that it at least wanted to make something of it. After 22 minutes the Purple & White showed themselves once, but Colassin was not able to make a good pass at Doku's cross.

The home team became stronger because Anderlecht let go. Cobbaut had to hurry to close a boulevard and a shot from Cercle ended up high. In the 32nd minute, Hogas scored the 1-0. Anderlecht's reaction was non-existent. Saelemaekers was replaced by Amuzu after an injury. Cercle, too, could no longer threaten before halftime.

Anderlecht started with some good intentions in the second half, but it was Cercle that could threaten from a distance via Peeters and Hoggas. Anderlecht tried it timidly with a shot from Colassin  and via Doku. Vercauteren exchanged Zulj for Vlap and Doku for Bakkali who is fit again after two long injuries. At no point did Anderlecht succeed in putting pressure on the last one in the ranking.

Van Crombrugge, on the other hand, stopped two attempts by Cercle. When Cercle had gotten into the match again and was looking for the reassuring 2-0, Purple White suddenly struck. Amuzu reacted well to a long pass from Chadli and the winger scored the 1-1. Cercle had to empty the cup all the way to the bottom. In the last minute of the added time, Murillo made a good move and found Vlap on the second post, who made it 1-2 through a header.

Anderlecht escaped and therefore has a chance to make play-off 1. It is incomprehensible that RSCA seemed to be hardly motivated for this game, especially if you know that this team made Bruges to have a hard time last week in the first half. In a team with little scoring power, it remains strange that Vlap (who can score) did not start the game again. After all, his substitutes do not excel every week and are not delivering a series of assists and goals. In addition to the much needed motivation, goals are what Anderlecht need.
