GAMES Anderlecht easily beat Waasland-Beveren on Saturday and keeps the hope of play-off 1 alive. Though, because of the victory of KV Mechelen, it seems Anderlecht's come-back may come just too late. The good news is that the second competitor for a play-off 1 ticket, Racing Genk, lost today. The Mauves need to close a 3 point gap now with just 2 matches remaining.

Anderlecht started furiously and created a few chances from the beginning. When Doku found Michel Vlap, the Dutchman scored after just six minutes of play: 0-1. Anderlecht kept control over the match, but didn't actively search for a second goal. Waasland-Beveren only had one serious chance in the first half, with a shot from distance, but Van Crombrugge stopped the effort. Pjaca had the best chance for Anderlecht to double the lead before the break.

In the second half, Kompany and Pjaca tested the home defence, while Kobayashi created a bit of danger on the other side. The pace of the match then dropped with a lot of bad passes and combinations on both sides. Anderlecht decided the match after 65 minutes though, when a good combination with Sambi Lokonga led to Vlap's second goal. Waasland-Beveren was now knocked out of the match and in the last minute, Amuza was stopped incorrectly in the box. A penalty was the result, which was converted by Amuzu himself.
