INTERVIEWS The Professional Refereeing Department of the Football Association has given explanation about Adrien Trebel's tackle against Mouscron on Sunday. Their judgment is that the VAR had to intervene and the referee had to draw a red card.

"It is a high-intensity foul, with the studs forward on the opponent's heel / Achilles tendon. This violation endangers the safety of the opponent," the Professional Refereeing Department analyzes the phase. "The VAR should recommend an on-field review in this situation and let the referee look at the images. The Referee Department expects a red card for serious foul play and a VAR intervention for this foul."

Referee Wim Smet gave a yellow card and the VAR did not intervene. Anderlecht coach Vincent Kompany acknowledged afterwards that a red card would have been correct.
