OTHER National coach Roberto Martinez has called up five players from Anderlecht for the upcoming international games. Hendrik Van Crombrugge is a logical name, but Elias Cobbaut, Yari Verschaeren, Jeremy Doku and Landry Dimata can also report to the national team.
For Doku it is his first selection for the national A-team. "He is an extraordinary talent," says Martinez. "He brings something very important in modern football. One to one he is very strong. It will be a special international period: players are still on holiday after the long season. It is a good opportunity for us to see other players play."
Dimata is also there for the first time. He benefits from the absence of Michy Batshuayi and Christian Benteke. "He has a specific profile. It's that profile we're looking for as a deep striker. He's been playing the past few weeks, which is important at the moment. It's a good time for him to join the group," said Martinez.
The Red Devils will play two games in the Nations League in early September. The Belgians will play in Denmark on Saturday 5 September. On Tuesday September 8 they will be hosting Iceland at home.
