Anderlecht seems ready for a new coach after a disappointing finish

The chances are dwindling by the week that R.S.C. Anderlecht will continue next season with Jérémy Taravel as head coach. Although the official evaluation will only take place after the season, the sporting results and the general atmosphere around the club increasingly point towards a parting of ways. Since the victory over KV Mechelen on 18 April, the purple-and-white have not won once. Read more »

Director and shareholder Etienne Davignon passed away

Étienne Davignon has died at the age of 93. As a diplomat and executive, he had been active since the 1950s at the highest levels of Belgium's political and financial scene. He owned 1.9 percent of Anderlecht's shares and sat on the club's board of directors. Listing Davignon's résumé would quickly amount to writing a book. Read more »

De Cat: “We could have done better”

After the match against KV Mechelen, Nathan De Cat gave his initial reaction to DAZN. According to the midfielder, there was definitely more to be had. He sees it as a positive that Anderlecht was able to avert defeat in stoppage time. Losing at home would have been very painful, although Anderlecht should never be satisfied with a draw. Anderlecht summons Bertaccini

Anderlecht summons Bertaccini

Anderlecht coach Jérémy Taravel is far from pleased with Adriano Bertaccini's criticism of the late announcement of the lineup. Het Laatste Nieuws reports the coach will summon Bertaccini on Monday. He should not, however, expect any sanction. The club believes a good conversation between the two will suffice and that afterward tensions will be smoothed over. Read more »

Frustration among players after defeat

Frustration among players after defeat

On Sunday Anderlecht must get back to work for an important match, but there will be a few fires to put out in the coming days. Bertaccini, Camara and Cvetkovic spoke to Sporza after the lost cup final and were visibly disappointed and critical. Bertaccini said "Union deserved to win." He felt Anderlecht had hardly any chances and that there were far too many long balls, which Union dealt with comfortably. He noted there was no adjustment from the bench, while adding that the players themselves should have known better in that moment. Read more »

Prosecutor asks four-match suspension for Cvetkovic

Prosecutor asks four-match suspension for Cvetkovic

The football association's disciplinary office has requested a four-match ban for Mihajlo Cvetkovic, with one of those matches suspended. Anderlecht can still appeal the proposal in the hope the Serbian will be allowed to play in the cup final against Union, but the club must pray the sanction is not increased on appeal, which would rule him out altogether. Regardless of the ultimate decision, it appears the young striker already played his last competitive game of the season in Ghent — a serious setback for Anderlecht, because if they fail to win the cup they will still have to fight in the league to secure fourth place and avoid the test match. A sports director by mid-May?

Anderlecht hopes to present its new sporting director by mid-May at the latest. The role is expected to go to Antoine Sibierski, who is currently handing in his notice at Troyes in France. An initial deadline of 1 May had reportedly been set, but that now appears unattainable. If Sibierski — who would immediately face a heavy workload — has not committed by 15 May, other options will likely be explored. Read more »

There is a chance Anderlecht will sell its Japanese striker Goto. Goto is currently on loan at STVV and has been in outstanding form there. RSC Anderlecht receives its licence

RSC Anderlecht receives its licence

RSC Anderlecht is among the clubs that have already been granted their professional licence for next season. Remarkably, almost a third of Belgian clubs still need to regularise their files. Of the 34 professional clubs, 11 were not granted their licence in the first instance — a rising number compared with last year that underlines the persistent financial and structural problems in Belgian football. While clubs such as Zulte Waregem and Dender still have to convince the commission, Anderlecht is now regarded as an organisation that is stable, solid and compliant with the Pro League's requirements. Marc Coucke remains closely involved despite the distance

Although club owner Marc Coucke was recently abroad, he continues to follow Anderlecht's performances closely. The results clearly affect him: after a disappointing showing against Cercle Brugge, the owner reportedly made no attempt to hide his dissatisfaction.
