GAMES Anderlecht has proven in the first 'top match' of the season that very little has changed since last season. It didn't play well in Bruges, meaning it was sent home without a chance with 3-0. The season is still long, but Anderlecht doesn't seem able to compete with Bruges (and the other top clubs?) this season.

Anderlecht, without Doku, and where all players played with the name 'Miguel' on the back as a tribute to Miguel Van Damme of Cercle Bruges, was already outclassed by Club in the first half. It could only create a few chances. Luckassen was allowed to cross the field in minute 9 and served Verschaeren. His cross was turned into a corner. After that we had to go to minute 39 to see Anderlecht again in the attack. Verschaeren's shot after a pass of Nmecha went over. A minute later, no one was followed when Kossounou handled a cross from Verschaeren badly.

Furthermore, Club had all the chances. It easily dominated with a dynamic front line and it kept Anderlecht on its own half. For example, at one point Mignolet was just playing football just behind the halfway line. When Vranjes simply played the ball into Badji's feet, Vanaken served Diatta, who used the boulevard of space and gave Club the lead in the 22nd minute. The experienced Bosnian did not have his best half of his career. Vanaken's attempts were blocked several times and Diatta missed.

After the break, Van Crombrugge stayed in the dressing room after a heavy (and unpunished) contact with Diatta before the break. Bakkali did not return either, but Kompany could have replaced seven others as well. The second half had barely started when Vormer walked into the penalty area after a missed control by Lokonga whoi brought the Dutchman down. Vanaken got the job done from the penalty spot. Just before the hour Wellenreuther saved twice.

In minute 65, Anderlecht showed that they were still alive. Tau did not get the biggest chance - which he always has to finish - past Mignolet and the goalkeeper immediately reacted well to a low shot of Verschaeren. In minute 71 it became almost impossible for Anderlecht after a second yellow card for Sambi Lokonga. An unexpected return was halted when Murillo was just offside. After all, Amuzu had finished the most beautiful Purple and White combination via Murillo and Verschaeren.

The match seemed to be bleeding to death. Bruges was satisfied with the easy victory and Anderlecht could only run behind the ball. In the added time Vormer scored a third goal for Club. He aimed a free kick neatly over the wall, via the post into the goal.

After the international break, Anderlecht can play against OH Leuven, a club that has one point more after eight games ...
