GAMES A realistic Anderlecht has shown that it can get a result in a top match. Debutant Mukairu decided the game with a nice shot and the Purple and White defense was unbeaten. Lawrence, who started a match for the first time after a long absence, also left a good impression.

The first half was quite interesting, even though the scoring opportunities were very scarce. Anderlecht started with shots from Amuzu and Zulj. In the fourth minute, Tau crossed, but Butez intervened well. Anderlecht left the initiative to Antwerp and that resulted in a lot of ball possession, but no chances for the Great Old. Anderlecht lurked on the counter, but the few options that were available were played out too weakly. Boterberg failed to give a yellow card for Antwerp twice in the beginning of the game.

Sambi Lokonga and Zulj mainly controlled and the wings were well covered by Murillo and Lawrence. In minute 27 an attempt by Amuzu was blocked and Delcroix was able to head on a corner kick, but that did not result in a goal attempt. Antwerp was almost invisible on the offensive. Mbokani and Refaelov were well covered by the defense and Van Crombrugge had to show himself for the first time on an attempt by Gerkens in minute 39. Just before half-time, Bundu kicked in the side net. Although Anderlecht could not be very dangerous, there were still a few moments where more seemed possible.

After the break we saw the same game image. After a few attempts from the home team, Antwerp threatened for the first time after the break via Ampomah. Antwerp shifted up a gear. Just after the hour Ampomah tried again, but Van Crombrugge was ready. Just after that, Mukairu made his debut, replacing a weak Bundu, but Anderlecht remained sloppy in the build-up and the attack. Nmecha turned away nicely, but Amuzu missed the chance far too simply. In minute 75, Anderlecht finished nicely and took the lead. Sambi Lokonga launched an attack that landed at Mukairu. The Nigerian curled the ball neatly past Butez.

Antwerp brought Miyoshi and Benavente for the last fifteen minutes. The Japanese took his chance with a low shot in minute 85, but Van Crombrugge saved. Amuzu could have decided the game on the other side, but he missed. Nmecha could also score, but Butez saved the striker's attempt. Unlike in so many other matches, Anderlecht could now keep the lead. It achieved a clinical victory and climbs in the ranking. Still very important with the heavy schedule in the coming weeks. Next week, Anderlecht has to go to Ghent.
