OTHER The Covid-19 virus is still raging in our country, so the Jupiler Pro League has been disrupted for several weeks. The small clubs therefore ask to play another season with 18 clubs in 1A. In 1B, a maximum of four U21 teams would be allowed.

For the time being, 18 teams are playing in the Jupiler Pro League. In 2022, three teams would be relegated so that they can return to 16 teams. But Zulte Waregem, Kortrijk and OHL, among others, are asking to postpone that for one more season. The corona crisis is far from over, making it difficult for some clubs. The decision to postpone a season also creates more stability for those clubs.

U21 teams in 1B

At the moment, only Club Brugge's U21 team plays in 1B. A last-minute decision that met with a lot of incomprehension at RSC Anderlecht. Now there is a proposal on the table to allow a maximum of four U21 teams in 1B: Club Brugge, RSC Anderlecht, Genk and Standard. But Ghent, among others, sees a competitive disadvantage in this.

So there is still a lot to discuss and solutions are not immediately in sight.
