GAMES Once again, Anderlecht could have made a big step into securing a place in the top four, but failed to do so. Against Cercle Bruges, a team that lost ten games at home in a row, the Mauves couldn't create a single chance. With a 0-0, Anderlecht could even be happy to take one point back home.

The first half can be summarized in one word: boring. Cercle were actually the better team and had a good chance after a few minutes: Hoggas appeared alone in front of Wellenreuther, but missed. Not much more happened after that.

The second half brought more of the same. Hoggas gave it a try but his effort was blocked. A bit later Pavlovic couldn't deviate a center into the goal. And also Vitinho couldn't score: he was stopped by Wellenreuther. After 66 minutes, Ugbo finally scored for Cercle but the VAR intervened for offside. Anderlecht only had one chance, through Trebel with a free kick on the crossbar.

That way, the game ended in a scoreless draw.
