"We can thank Wellenreuther today"

INTERVIEWS Vincent Kompany praised his goalkeeper after the game against Cercle. Kompany is not the man to tear down players or to seek excuses anyway. But yesterday evening he admitted that the game against Standard was still in the legs for some players.


"Everyone makes mistakes", says Kompany, explaining about the (sometimes big) mistakes that Wellenreuther makes, "You must also not forget that he suddenly had to stand there to replace a leader (Van Crombrugge ed.). He needed some time to take his place. But today we can thank him, he played an excellent game ".

Standard cost a lot of energy

"In the match the performances went up and down for both teams, sometimes they were the better, then we again. You could feel that we lacked the sharpness, the match against Standard cost us a lot of energy."
