Michaël Verschueren possible candidate for federation chairman

OTHER Mehdi Bayat resigned as federation chairman. At the end of August we will know who his successor will be and there is a chance that it will be Michaël Verschueren, although nothing is certain yet. Meanwhile, Verschueren is already a representative of professional football.


The Board of Directors of the Football Association consists of four representatives from professional football, four from amateur football and two independents. The new president of the football association must also be a member of the Board of Directors. And yesterday Verschueren was already designated as a representative of professional football.

The other three are Michel Louwagie from AA Gent, Bruno Venanzi from Standard and Peter Willems from Oud-Heverlee Leuven. Those three do not want the position of chairman for the time being, although that could change of course. So Verschueren remains the only candidate, although that too is not certain.

The new chairman will not be elected before the end of August, until then all the different boards have time to discuss the matter. RSC Anderlecht itself still has to agree if Verschueren chooses to become chairman.
