Weak performance and another draw

GAMES A weak Anderlecht has once again played a draw. It remained 1-1 against Kortrijk after a very weak first half in which Kortrijk had taken the lead. Five minutes of good play after half-time resulted in Magallan's equalizer, but after a red card for Raman, Anderlecht lost the momentum. It got, just like Kortrijk, a few more chances, but could not win again with a 9/24 as result. Anderlecht could have used the victory well, because the gap with the top-4 is getting bigger and bigger.
 


Anderlecht played much too passive before half-time. It took until minute ten before Kompany's team could reach the penalty area of Kortrijk. They played with an extra pawn in midfield, but that was hardly noticeable. Anderlecht didn't get any further than a couple of corners. After 25 minutes, Kouamé and Magallan hindered each other, also on a corner kick. Kortrijk kept everything under control and waited quietly. At least until minute 36 when Gueye beat Magallan at the far post and headed into goal in the far corner. Apart from this action, Kortrijk, apart from an early attempt by Sainsbury, hadn't been dangerous either. Anderlecht reacted, but too many Kortrijk players were in the way on a shot by Mykhailichenko. A low shot by Cullen was the last action of a very poor first half in which Anderlecht registered a total of zero attempts inside the box.

Anderlecht did start strongly after half-time. Purple white were immediately unlucky when a cross from Mykhailichenko landed hard against the crossbar via a Kortrijk leg. Even before minute 50, Raman had the equalizer at his feet, but Ilic made the save. Moments later the goal was scored. Ilic hit the ball wide on a corner and Magallan was able to put his head sufficiently against Raman's cross.

Anderlecht seemed to be taking over, but on the hour Raman got red for a reaction and Anderlecht could continue with ten men. After Murillo, this was already the second stupid red card in a few weeks time. With one man less, Anderlecht lost the upper hand after the break. Ten minutes before the end, a last offensive was launched. Zirkzee wriggled his way past a couple of Kortrijk players, but hit the side netting. A low cross from Hoedt was missed by everyone in front of goal and Verschaeren turned away quickly, but Ilic saved. The game was nearing its end, but Kortrijk did not give in yet. In the extra six minutes, Anderlecht did not manage to get anything done, so they tied the game once again.
