INTERVIEWS In his interview after the game against Club Brugge, Wesley Hoedt also spoke clear language about the racism incident. Also the way Lior Refaelov was treated, is not acceptable for the defender. "I think the fans should look in the mirror on certain levels," he said.

"Such things don't belong in a soccer stadium, but we as players can't do much," says Hoedt about the racist remarks his coaches and some team mates heard. "It has to come from the Pro League and supporters."

Hoedt doesn't understand the lack of respect from some people. "If you have no respect for coach Kompany, then as a Belgian you should have respect for him as a coach and player, right? Regardless of the club colors he defends?"

"Really it disgusts me. As a soccer fan you come to the stadium to cheer on your club. On the field there are players of all nationalities. All of them are equal. And then supporters do this kind of thing. We as players are tired of it."

The same regarding Lior Refaelov. The fans who cheered him for seven years now whistled at him and even chanted 'all Jews are gay'. "He has done so much for Brugge, then you would expect him to get some respect, but that is apparently too much to ask," said Hoedt.
