GAMES Anderlecht has won a match in the Play-offs since long and in style. It won with 0-4 in Antwerp. Purple and white deservedly led with 0-1 at half-time and added three goals shortly after the break. Outstanding player Amuzu scored three times. The home game against Antwerp follows on Thursday evening.

Just like last week, Anderlecht started the match well and kept Antwerp away from the goal. In minute seven, the first attack ended in a corner. It was taken quickly and Amuzu decided in the side netting. Two minutes later he did better. Antwerp's lack of composure at the back was countered by a high level of anticipation from the purple and white. Arnstad served Zirkzee, who put Amuzu in position with a heel. The striker gave Anderlecht the lead with a beautifully placed shot.

Antwerp got the ball, but was unable to create any chances. It did threaten a few times from distance through Frey and Nainggolan, but Verbruggen had no problems. With a good Amuzu, Anderlecht was the better team without creating too many chances. Five minutes before half time, another good attack followed, but Dessoleil trumped Kouamé. Arnstad, who didn't get the ball very often because most attacks went via the left flank, suddenly hit the post in minute 43 with a crossed shot. Anderlecht deservedly took the lead at the break.

After the break, a very memorable ten minutes followed in which Anderlecht extended the lead to 0-4. A reborn Kouamé went ahead and served Zirkzee who didn't hesitate to kick the 0-2 into the ropes in front of goal. While Antwerp was having an open day, Anderlecht kept going. Murillo went for a walk, served Kouamé and he delivered another assist. This time, Amuzu pulled the trigger: 0-3. But the purple-white offensive was not over yet. Kouamé and Zirkzee played out a one-two and the Ivorian saw a free Amuzu at the far post who scored his third goal of the evening.

After the 0-4, so a little after the hour, Kompany immediately brought in four substitutes. Outstanding player Amuzu also had to leave the field shortly after that after an injury. Anderlecht let go of the reins and Antwerp tried to score a first goal while Anderlecht was waiting for the counter. Haroun headed the first chance for Antwerp and Dessoleil aimed wide in minute 77. The match was already played and Anderlecht was waiting for the final whistle.

A great performance by Anderlecht who didn't have any problems at all. The standout was of course Amuzu, who otherwise finds it hard to score. The last victory of Purple and White in the Play-offs already dated from May 5, 2019. Then they won 2-1 against Standard. Hopefully Kompany's troops can continue this good performance on Thursday. It now puts Antwerp on three points and can virtually assure itself of place three on Thursday if it can win again.
