GAMES Anderlecht didn't make a good impression at its first away game. Cercle outplayed Anderlecht and after the red card for Ishaq, it seemed to become a mission impossible. After the break, Anderlecht did a little better, but Amuzu missed the only big chance for Anderlecht. Cercle scored the 1-0 goal a quarter of an hour before the end on a breakthrough. An exhausted Anderlecht couldn't make a fist anymore.

Cercle clearly came on the pitch with a different attitude than last week. They immediately put high pressure on the Anderlecht defence and wings. Ishaq got a yellow card after only six minutes. Anderlecht couldn't find any solutions and didn't succeed in keeping the ball. After twenty minutes, a Cercle goal was disallowed after a (light) foul on Delcroix. Van Crombrugge then had a hard time dealing with a header by Da Silva Lopes and a free kick by Hotic.

After half an hour things went from bad to worse. The VAR called Boterberg to the screen, which showed how Ishaq used his elbow during a previous phase. The Nigerian was perhaps a bit harsh, but even with yellow he should have left the field. We don't want to write off the newcomer just yet, but Ishaq doesn't seem ready to play on the right flank, especially defensively. Back to the game where Trebel saved a ball on the line on yet another Cercle corner with a nice leg reflex. Could Anderlecht still show something after this poor first half?

After the break, Fabio Silva came on to the pitch. But still, Cercle threatened again via Da Silva. In minute 54, finally a good attack from the purple and white. On the left Raman crossed to the free Amuzu who surprisingly headed the cross. His somewhat clumsy attempt landed on the crossbar. A few minutes later Cercle again created danger. Hoedt was in the right place to clear.

Twenty minutes before the end Fabio Silva kicked the goal from a tight angle. Cercle seemed a bit tired and couldn't put Anderlecht under constant pressure anymore. Just at that moment, Cercle struck through an outbreak. The substitute Sadiki let his man run and with a bit of luck, the ball ended up in Torres' feet and he scored easily. Anderlecht didn't succeed in changing the goal line anymore and although the goal fell a quarter of an hour before the end, they couldn't cause any danger anymore.

That's how Anderlecht went down in its first away game and especially the way in which it did so was not very pleasant. In the first half, Cercle completely dominated Anderlecht and they whistled in ball loss and fouls. The changeability that has been a feature of the last couple of seasons has not gone away. Next week will be important with the away game in Estonia and the league game at home against Seraing.
