Official: City announce arrival of Gomez

TRANSFERS Manchester City have just announced the transfer of Sergio Gomez. "I am incredibly proud and happy," Gomez told the website of his new club. "I get the chance to work under one of the best managers in world football and to develop myself."


"City is the best club in England," says Gomez, who has signed for four years and will have shirt number 21. "Being part of this club is a dream come true and something every young footballer strives for."

"The number of trophies City have won in recent years is incredible. Their way of playing under Guardiola is the most exciting in all of Europe. Playing under Guardiola and his coaches and being guided by them will be very special. I can't wait to get started."

Begiristain: "Player with huge potential"

For the average City fan, Gomez will not yet be a familiar name. "Sergio is a very promising young talent. His development last season was impressive. He is a defender with enormous potential. We are convinced that he will bring quality to our team, both defensively and offensively. Under Guardiola and his staff, Gomez will continue to develop and become even better."
