OTHER Immediately after the weak cup match, trainer Robin Veldman spoke with Sporza. The (interim) Anderlecht coach was obviously satisfied with the qualification, but far from happy with how they did it.

Veldman agreed that qualification is ultimately the most important thing in itself, but did point to the fact that once again there was very poor defense in the two goals against. "Those don't make sense at all. We lose the ball too easily," Veldman said.

He also went on to say that Anderlecht had made it unnecessarily difficult for themselves as they had managed far too little in attacking terms compared to the number of times they had come near the Lierse penalty area. Veldman praised Lierse for their fighting spirit, but said that Anderlecht simply had to bring more there then. Veldman went on to say that the team really needs to work on "purity.

Veldman didn't want to think about the World Cup break yet because first Genk still awaits. "I also think we have something to put right with respect to our supporters," Veldman concluded.
