INTERVIEWS The transfer period has been open for almost a week and things remain very quiet around Anderlecht for now. Coach Brian Riemer, however, is not worried. "We are looking at different positions," he says. "Our expectation is to have a stronger team on 1 February to continue the season."

Riemer this week saw Hannes Delcroix out for one-and-a-half to two months. At his press conference this afternoon, the question therefore came up as to whether Anderlecht will recruit a replacement this mercato. Riemer answered neither yes nor no to this question.

"Like every club, we want to strengthen ourselves this transfer period. Our brilliant scouting cell and Jesper (Fredberg, ed.) are working extremely hard at the moment to find the right solutions. Hannes will not be out for a whole season. We are looking at different positions and want to make sure we have enough players to fulfil our ambitions. Our expectation is to have a stronger team by February 1 to continue the season."

"Allowing players to blossom"

Riemer was also asked about the club's plans to recruit an additional deep striker to relieve Fabio Silva. "Whether that is a priority? Just like in defence, there are always options. Benito Raman can also play in the striker, as can Mario Stroeykens. The latter has already done that well, by the way. We have different scenarios and options. For me, it's not always about what you want, but also about how you best shape the team structurally," Riemer said.

"Fabio is a great talent and a tremendously good player. He perhaps did not score the number of goals he and we had hoped for, but I believe the potential is there. I am convinced he is an important player for us."

"We have a lot of quality in this group, also untapped quality. What we like to do at Anderlecht is to let players blossom."
