OTHER Last night, a group of Anderlecht supporters sat down with the club. CEO Sports Jesper Fredberg, coach Brian Riemer and CEO Non-Sports Kenneth Bornauw were present. Contrary to what was suggested here and there, this meeting was not the result of huge discontent that came out in the past few days. This meeting had been fixed for three weeks.

The invitation to the meeting came on 21 December. The two new Danes wanted to introduce themselves and Anderlecht took advantage of this to explain to the 18 away leaders the functioning of the new online platform to pass on names of supporters. According to media reports, a total of 44 fans attended the consultation.

"For the away games, there is a system whereby supporter groups have to pass on the names of fans going along to the club. That is an obligation by the government that applies to all clubs, not just Anderlecht," one of the away officials present told Anderlecht-Online. "Until recently, this was done via an Excel list, a very time-consuming way. Now Anderlecht has started using a digital registration system. By the way, such a platform is compulsory for all first division clubs. All away leaders welcome this new way of working."

So it is not the Fanboard that met yesterday. Nor was it ever intended that chairman Wouter Vandenhaute or Peter Verbeke would be present at this consultation. Let alone that they would be there to explain the club's current (financial) situation or its short- and long-term ambitions and vision.
