Verbruggen in the picture at Dutch national team

OTHER The performances of Bart Verbruggen are not going unnoticed in the Netherlands. Patrick Lodewijks, the new goalkeeping coach of the Dutch national team since 1 January, says in an interview with ESPN that Verbruggen is one of the players in his sights.


"At Anderlecht now, for example, Bart Verbruggen is playing, a young goalkeeper who is getting the chance. That's nice," said Lodewijks. He also drops the name of Kjell Scherpen, now with Vitesse and last season with KV Oostende. 

The Netherlands does not really have a first goalkeeper at the moment. The past few internationals saw frequent substitutions. Verbruggen and Scherpen have been the regulars with the Dutch U21 in recent years.
