INTERVIEWS Reacting to various media, Marc Coucke says he is grateful to the court for digging out the rigging in the sale of Anderlecht in such a way. "I felt quite quickly that things were not right," he says.

Coucke responded by phone to newspapers and Sporza. On camera, he would not appear. "I am pleased and very grateful that the court is keeping up the pace in this case. They are digging deep and with the necessary speed," he stated. "This confirms what we have been saying from the beginning: namely that things were not right and there were unsavoury practices. Corpses have fallen out of the cupboard."

That the current sporting malaise is the result of this, Coucke would not say. "I don't think the two are related, but it is logical that the difficult circumstances in the takeovers did not help to create a success story."

If the rigging is also proven in court, Coucke will do everything in his power to see the damages suffered compensated. "We will work hard to rectify any injustice done to the club," he said.
