Riemer: "Amuzu can win Golden Boot one day"

INTERVIEWS Chairman Wouter Vandenhaute, CEO sports Jesper Fredberg and coach Brian Riemer are attending tonight's Golden Boot gala on behalf of Anderlecht. The latter two also spoke briefly to the press upon their arrival. Among other things, Riemer spoke about Fabio Silva's departure.


"For 2023 I have big expectations," Fredberg told us. "I came to this club because I am ambitious. I am hungry to achieve something. But the past few weeks have been difficult and we have to tackle things. But the potential is big. We have to make sure, step by step, that tomorrow is always better than yesterday If that succeeds, I see the future looking bright.

Fredberg was also asked which Anderlecht player could win the Golden Boot in the future. "Zeno Debast," he answered. "He is a player with a great career ahead of him."

Riemer was asked the same question. He too mentioned Debast, but added a second name. The one of Francis Amuzu. "He has fanstatic qualities, but at the moment he has some problems with his finishing. If he progresses in that area, he could become a candidate to win."

Riemer was additionally asked about Fabio Silva and possible transfers. "I think we could use one or two more defenders. At the moment we don't have many. After Fabio Silva's departure, a striker is also welcome. Fabio wanted to look for success elsewhere. I told him I only want players who are willing to give everything for Anderlecht. If you don't have that willingness, I think it's better to go elsewhere."
