DAMES Dramatic start to the playoffs for RSCA Women, they lost 0-4 against Club YLA. A silly red card for Esther Buabadi put the national champion in a bad light. A windfall: frontrunner OHL also lost in Genk.

Dave Mattheus had to start the playoffs without captain Laura De Neve and Silke Vanwijnsberghe, so the RSCA coach had to rebuild his defense. Anderlecht started well, but after twenty minutes Buabadia took revenge and the new Red Flame got red. The purple and white had to continue playing with ten men for more than an hour.

A stupid red card for Esther Buabadi. "In such phases you have to be smart," said captain Laura De Neve. The 4-0 thump was felt hard in Zaventem, where coach Dave Mattheus and his players were bitterly disappointed Friday.

"We started the match well, but we picked up a totally unnecessary red card," Laura De Neve said. "At halftime we decided to go for it. We dominated for twenty minutes and then we got that 0-2 goal, which was the final blow.

The championship is open again

On Wednesday Anderlecht travels to Standard. "We regained courage after the defeat to OHL, which also looked vulnerable. But a trip to Standard is no sinecure either. The league is open again. Club YLA and Standard cannot be eliminated in the title race either."
