OTHER A European semifinal would allow Anderlecht to reconnect with its glorious past after more than 30 years. The two million euros at stake would also be financial compensation for not participating in the European playoffs in the Belgian league.

So far in Europe, RSCA has already collected 8.7 million euros: 900,000 euros for the qualifying rounds, 2.94 million euros for participation in the group stage of the Conference League, a bonus of 1,335,000 euros based on the coefficient. 1,335,000 euros for two wins and two draws in the group, 325,000 euros for second place in the group, 300,000 euros for reaching the intermediate round, 600,000 euros for reaching the round of 16 and 1 million euros for qualifying for the quarter-finals. A place in the semifinals will earn Anderlecht an additional 2 million euros. If he qualifies for the final in Prague, he gets another 3 million, and if Anderlecht wins the Conference League, he even gets 5 million.

That's a lot of money. Especially since the Conference League could be their only source of income after Sunday this season. A participation in the European playoffs is far from certain. If Anderlecht were to finish outside the top eight on Sunday night, they will miss at least three home games. Each match at Lotto Park brings in about 750,000 euros for the purple-whites. If the Belgian season ends after Sunday for the Purple Whites, the club will miss out on 2,250,000 euros in revenue. A place in the semifinals of the Conference League would hardly compensate for that loss of income. But the 1,000 or so Anderlecht fans who will support the Purple and White tonight need not worry. They are hoping for an evening when nostalgic memories of a bygone era suddenly become reality.
