OTHER Ten players in white and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in purple. That's how Anderlecht played on Saturday. However, a retro shirt was also provided for Schmeichel, but the referee did not allow him to play in it.
The club had anticipated that Schmeichel would play in a dark grey jersey. However, referee Nicolas Laforge put a stop to this: the color would cause too much confusion with the other jerseys.
So Anderlecht's kit manager had to come up with a quick solution. He conjured up a purple shirt from last season without a sponsor, quickly put the logo and Schmeichel's number 33 on it. This is how the goalkeeper entered the field.
