DAMES The soccer federations of Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany today announced their joint candidacy to host the 2027 Women's Soccer World Cup. The Belgian soccer federation has asked Anderlecht if Lotto Park would like to host matches.

Belgium would like to have playing venues in both Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels. In any case, the King Baudouin Stadium will not host matches. The stadium does not meet FIFA standards and the city of Brussels (owner of the stadium) is not willing to make the necessary investments for this.

Therefore, the soccer federation inquired with Anderlecht whether Lotto Park would qualify. This is what Het Nieuwsblad writes. According to the newspaper, Anderlecht is currently studying the proposal. After all, there is a real chance that the club will have to make additional investments to make the stadium World Cup-ready. The question is whether the money is worth the effort.

On Dec. 8, the candidacies of Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany will be officially submitted to FIFA. On May 17 next year, it will be decided who gets to host the World Cup. Brazil, South Africa and the US-Mexico duo also want to clinch the World Cup.
