Special grass seed and extra lights should improve turf

OTHER Anderlecht will take advantage of the winter break to take care of its turf. Het Laatste Nieuws knows the club will sow special grass and rent extra heat lamps to make the new grass grow faster.


The grass seed Anderlecht will use will grow from 6°. Currently, Anderlecht has lamps to light one-third of the field. It will now rent additional ones to get to half. More is pointless. Lighting the field continuously is not good for the grass.

Should this way not be successful (due to freezing weather, for example), it is still an option to lay a new turf, according to Het Laatste Nieuws. That would cost 300,000 euros. After all, Anderlecht has a playing field that combines natural grass and synthetic fibers.

On Dec. 27, Anderlecht will play its last home game of 2023. The first game after New Year's is on January 27 (against Union). So Anderlecht has exactly one month to optimize the turf.
