Riemer: "We want to get one or two central defenders"

INTERVIEWS Anderlecht will enter the transfer market in January with the aim of getting one or two central defenders. Brian Riemer told that on his press call last Friday. In the ideal scenario come a young talent and a player with experience. The coach does realize that it will be a difficult task to convince targets.


"We want to attract an additional central defender, maybe even two. The whole club is currently working hard for this. We knew when the season started that we were taking a gamble somewhere by only having Jan and Zeno at center back," Riemer said.

"Central defenders you don't change very often."

With Vertonghen and Debast, the heart of the Anderlecht defense is like a house. A new player does not have much prospect of playing minutes right away and Riemer beseeches that too. "You have to try to imagine: you call a central defender and ask him to come to Anderlecht. To which he says, 'Yes Brian, but you play every match with Jan and Zeno'. It's not like you change central defenders often and you don't change them often during the match."
