Decision on replay probably only in 2024

OTHER The decision on whether or not Anderlecht-Genk will replay will probably not fall this year. According to Het Laatste Nieuws, this would even only happen in the second week of January. The decision to be made is therefore complex


The first judgment to be made is whether or not it is an error. Communication between ref and VAR are crucial. But as Het Nieuwsblad came to note, it would still be striking that a referee would not know the rules.

If it does involve error, it must also be judged whether it was match fixing. That too is not so obvious. It was not an unjustly disallowed goal (but only a chance for a goal), there was almost 3/4 of a game left to play and Genk took the lead. All points that are significantly different from the precedents cited in the media earlier.
