"Leoni and Debast already played ten times together at center back"

INTERVIEWS Theo Leoni, Amando Lapage and Ludwig Augustisson: those are the three players Brian Riemer is thinking of to take post at center back tomorrow alongside Zeno Debast. Leoni seems to have the best papers, but isn't he a bit frail? "Theo is one of the players with the greatest soccer intelligence we have," Riemer said.


"I can admit that Theo is one of the options. We also have Amando Lapage. He also has the qualities to do that. And I can also use Augustinsson as a central defender, as we already did against Cercle. Those are the three options playing in my head," Riemer told his press conference this afternoon.

"When both still played at the Futures (then U21 competition, ed.), Zeno and Theo played more than ten games side by side in the heart of the defense. So they have already done it, successfully too," Riemer said. "Moreover, Theo is one of the players with the greatest soccer intelligence we have. If you have to play at a different position, intelligence is very important."

"If you put Theo in the center back, he won't win ten header duels against Nilsson. But he is strong on the ball and very clever in position selection," the Anderlecht coach concluded.
