INTERVIEWS Due to the absence of Jan Vertonghen, it is now up to Zeno Debast to lead the Anderlecht defense. A role that suits him well, as was evident during the friendly game against Al Ahli last week. "This is good for his development," thinks coach Brian Riemer.
"Zeno has a great ambition to be a leader," Riemer told reporters this afternoon during his chat with the press. "Two things are interesting on that front: first, he wants to do it; second, Jan's absence puts him in a situation where he has to take more responsibility.
"This is good for his development. He did this well not only at practice camp, but also during the last two games before New Year's when Jan was not there either. Then he also took a good step forward."
Will he be captain tonight? "The chances are good," laughed Riemer.
