TRANSFERS Anderlecht are said to have made a formal offer for Chivas defender Jesús Orozco Chiquete. According to some media, the 22-year-old central defender would come into the picture as reinforcement for the defense. Chiquete Orozco was part of the Mexican national team that participated in the 2024 Copa América and was eliminated last Sunday, June 30, after a draw against Ecuador. The elimination could now allow negotiations to progress. Orozco was trained at Chivas and is an essential player in the team. Together with Gilberto Sepúlveda, he forms the most effective central duo in the Mexican league.
Orozco Chiquete plays as a central defender or as a left back, and his versatility is probably one of the reasons why Anderlecht turned to him. The Purple & White can count the available defenders on one hand.
Orozco himself would like to make the switch to Europe and with European football Anderlecht can provide an asset. However, the player must cost more than 5.5 million euros and that amount may be too high for the people of Brussels, especially because Debast's transfer money has still not been received. An initial offer, below the aforementioned buyout sum, would have been considered far too low by Chivas. Negotiations would continue.
