TRANSFERS Theo Leoni is currently negotiating a five-year contract extension at RSC Anderlecht. However, the initial offer has been rejected as Leoni and his entourage want a higher salary. Both the club and the player aim to reach an agreement soon, Leoni's current contract runs until 2026.
Leoni says the training camp was physically demanding, with intensive sessions to be top fit for the new season. He was disappointed with third place in the previous championship and feels Anderlecht deserved better. He gives himself a seven out of 10 for his performance, despite some matches with ankle injuries. The midfielder wants to confirm and perform more consistently this season, focusing on improving defensively and tactically. He sees the coming seasons as an opportunity to gain a lot of experience.
Competition in midfield is strong, so he will have to perform consistently at top level to get playing time. Leoni is looking forward to his first European games this season, which is a good opportunity to showcase himself and Anderlecht. He is confident about Jesper Fredberg's transfers and stresses the importance of quality in the team. He believes a return of Augustinsson and Delaney would be a good thing.
