‘Butez on his way to Anderlecht’

TRANSFERS Will Anderlecht find Kasper Schmeichel's replacement in the Jupiler Pro League? Indeed, according to La Dernière Heure, Antwerp goalkeeper Jean Butez is on his way to the record champion.


Butez has been playing for The Great Old since 2020. Previously, the Lille youth product also kept in Belgium for Mouscron. Butez played 168 games for Antwerp, where he could celebrate the double in 2023. The Frenchman is still under contract there until the summer of 2026.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper has been number one between the posts at Antwerp in recent seasons. Last season he played just about everything -including five Champions League games- until he broke his hand in the first play-off game against Anderlecht.

The Walloon newspaper seems confident and writes that Butez is very close to a switch to purple and white. According to Het Nieuwsblad, although Butez is on the list at Anderlecht, an agreement is still a long way off. To be continued, no doubt.
