GAMES Anderlecht secured their first win of the season with a narrow 1-0 victory over STVV. The match wasn't spectacular, with Anderlecht struggling to create chances against a weak STVV side. Goalkeeper Coosemans was hardly tested throughout the game. Despite the late win, coach Riemer knows that reinforcements are needed if Anderlecht is to compete for the title.

The first half saw Anderlecht dominate possession but failing to convert it into meaningful opportunities. The offensive players were unable to make an impact, resulting in a dull display. STVV also failed to threaten Coosemans, leading to a goalless first half.

The pattern continued in the second half, with Anderlecht controlling possession, but lacking creativity in the final third of the field. However, in stoppage time, substitute Stroeykens scored the winning goal with a rebound to secure the three points for Anderlecht.

While it was only the first game of the season, questions remain about Anderlecht's ability to improve. Defensive reinforcements are needed, as well as more creativity in the attack. Sportive director Fredberg will need to address these issues in the coming weeks.
