INTERVIEWS With Thomas Foket, Anderlecht attracted a competitor to be feared for Killian Sardella. The youngster responded against Antwerp with an assist for Kasper Dolberg, but he doesn't get it after his name. "That's not normal," he responded afterwards.
"Of course I gave an assist. I won my duel and served Dolberg," Sardella said. "As far as I'm concerned it wasn't an own goal. He missed his interception, that's all. I am curious to see the referee's report to see if it will be seen as an own goal."
"It would be frustrating not to get that assist," admits Sardella. "Statistics are becoming more and more important. As a right-back, we are asked to give assists. If you have an extra behind your name at the end of the season, that can change everything."
"I want to do better than last season"
Good stats will be what Sardella will need in advance to compete with Foket. " Anderlecht is a big club where competition is needed. So I'm happy he's here. We are playing European this season. It's almost impossible for a player to play more than 50 games."
"In the meantime, I will fight for my place. If someone gets injured, I am happy to help on the left. But my place is on the right. I want to do better than last season. With that in mind, I am happy to have signed my new contract. Yes, I'm really not leaving this season. My main wish was to stay. The interest was not as concrete as the newspapers reported."
