GAMES Anderlecht maintains the maximum points after a 1-2 victory over Antwerp. They owe this largely to efficient finishing and a solid performance from goalie Colin Coosemans, as Antwerp undoubtedly had the most chances and attempts on goal. Anderlecht had two major opportunities and scored on both occasions, although Dolberg also hit the post. Ultimately, Majeed Ashimeru secured the win for Anderlecht ten minutes before the end, following goals from Dolberg and a first-half equalizer by Kerk.
Antwerp took control of the game, but Coosemans saved the 1-0 after a poor intervention by N'Diaye. Anderlecht gradually grow in the game and immediately took the lead with their first real chance. Sardella did well to push through and reached Dolberg, who gave Anderlecht the lead in the 25th minute, although Lammens ultimately pushed the ball into his own net.
But Antwerp stroke back. Coosemans first saved the equalizer but was then lucky that Ondrejka didn't capitalize on a defensive mistake. The equalizer eventually came when the defense was caught off guard by a deep ball. Kerk calmly finished.
In the first quarter after the break, Anderlecht took control, but this only resulted in a weak shot from Dreyer. Antwerp then started to press again, partly due to sloppy play from Anderlecht. Chery shot just wide. Anderlecht occasionally countered, like when Dolberg suddenly hit the post with a hard shot. Although Antwerp's attacks seemed more dangerous, it was Anderlecht that took the lead again. After Antwerp lost the ball, Leoni and Verschaeren cleverly brought Ashimeru in front of goalie Lammens, who calmly scored the 1-2.
In a nervous final phase, Alderweireld joined the attack, but Antwerp didn't manage to create a real chance. As a result, Anderlecht takes six out of six points, although this shouldn't give a false impression of the current squad's quality. Reinforcements remain absolutely necessary, especially with the European schedule ahead.
