New goalkeeper still an option: Greek in the picture

TRANSFERS Although Colin Coosemans is currently doing extremely well, Anderlecht is keeping the option open to still get a new goalkeeper. Among others, Greek Odysseas Vlachodimos, who just signed with Newcastle, would be an option, according to La Dernière Heure.
Ahead of yesterday's European match against Dinamo Minsk, both Jesper Fredberg and Brian Riemer were asked questions about Anderlecht's goalkeeping situation. Both remained very much to the point in their answers. ‘Coosemans has stepped up and I am happy with what we have now. Of course we continue to look out to strengthen our core. In doing so, we ask ourselves the question: is this the right timing? Is this what we need?' echoed Fredberg.

Does the club opt for a player who can stay at the club for a longer period of time? Or does it hire a goalkeeper or give someone a one-season contract? The latter happened last season with Kasper Schmeichel.
If Anderlecht opts for the long term, Antwerp's Jean Butez remains target number one. If it looks at the short term, then Vlachodimos comes into the picture, according to La Dernière Heure.
Vlachodimos was a regular at Benfica for many years. A year ago he moved to Nottingham, but did not play much there. Especially since the arrival of Matz Sels in January. Yet Newcatle paid almost €24 million for the 30-year-old Greek in early July. However, he should not count on many playing opportunities there right away. Nick Pope is firmly in goal. Last weekend, on the first matchday of the Premier League, Vlachodimos was not even in the matchday selection. A loan spell is among the possibilities.
