Augustinsson: ‘Bad pitch and bad ball’

INTERVIEWS With his second goal in two games, Ludwig Augustinsson gave Anderlecht victory against Dinamo Minsk. ‘I am happy that I was able to score,' the Swede said after the match. ‘The result is good, the way was not.'


That Anderlecht did not play well, the occasional captain realises better than anyone else. ‘There were too many technical mistakes in our game,' Augustinsson said. ‘Although I have to say the pitch was not good and the ball looked exactly like a volleyball. I think it was of the Uhlsport brand, but it went every which way. Although of course that is no excuse.'

In the absence of Jan Vertonghen and because Yari Verschaeren started on the bench, Augustinsson was given the captain's armband. ‘The coach told me on Wednesday. It makes me very proud. It's been since the national U21 that I was captain again. At all my previous clubs I never wore the band.'

‘Before the match I gave a speech, but I am not as inspired a speaker as Jan (Vertonghen, ed.). I wasn't nervous because I have some experience in speaking in front of a group by now. I am the type of captain who especially wants to set a good example on the pitch.'
