Official: Vercauteren signs with Lommel

TRANSFERS Rik Vercauteren has today signed a one-season contract with Lommel. It will be a happy reunion with Nicolas Nerinckx, until two years ago he was Vercauteren was his goalkeeping coach with Anderlecht's youth.


‘Rik has already proven his abilities at Anderlecht through RSCA Futures and he adds depth to a position that contains some top young talent,' said James McCarron, Lommel's sporting manager. ‘We are eager to see how he will grow within our team over the next few years.'

Vercauteren came to Anderlecht from Waasland-Beveren in 2016. He played 18 games for the Futures in 1B, but was too old to join the U23 this season.

Yesterday, Vercauteren said goodbye to Anderlecht on Instagram. ‘After eight years, my time as an Anderlecht player is over. I had a great time here. I want to thank everyone who was part of this. You all have a special place in my hard. Mauve un jour, mauve pour toujours.'
